Town of Cary Concert Series, Cary Park NC

Challenge:
The Town of Cary produces an ongoing concert series, but the only venue available is a gymnasium operated by the Cary Parks and Recreation Department. Typically, a gym is not an ideal venue for performances, as it is a loud, reverberant room.

Solution:
Audio & Light provides professional sound and lighting which is flown from the roof trusses. Theatrical curtains are attached to the truss along with stage lighting, with the curtains serving to mask the background and allow for a much more formal theatrical experience. The stage lighting is carefully focused to draw attention to the performers and away from the surroundings, while audio speakers are aimed to cover the audience but prevent audio from bouncing off of the walls. The room sound is also carefully equalized to de-accentuate the 'bright' tones that characterize the acoustic field.

Success:
The Town of Cary staff regularly receives many positive compliments on what fine performances they produce. Concert-goer patrons are impressed with the quality of the presentation and often comment that they feel like they have been to a 'real' theatre. As a result, the Town of Cary is now producing larger and more ambitious concerts in this venue.
